BRC Canadian Definitive Stamps
Queens: Karsh Portrait, 1987-2000
The Karsh portrait Queen Elizabeth II design is currently Canada's longest running definitive series. It was introduced with a 37c first-class rate value on 30 Dec/87. A  24mm x 20mm size was used for that value, while subsequent values up until 1995 were issued in a 26mm x 22mm format. The smaller size was reinstated in 1998. The scarcest stamp is the 39c perforated 13.1 x 12.7 (QK-03c), now retailing over $25. Queens (Karsh)

Identification Characteristics. See Abbreviations for Tagging, Paper, Printer and Format types.
  1. The first AP printing of the 43c (QK-06b) has brown hair and 5mm wide tagging.
  2. The second AP printing of the 43c (QK-06c) has brown black hair and 4mm wide tagging.
  3. The 45c CBN printing (QK-07a) has black hair.
  4. The 45c AP printing (QK-07c) has dark brown hair.
  5. * Scott 2001 number changes, 1357 was 1359, 1358 was 1360.
