| The 12c value was the first stamp in this series, issued to meet the new first-class rate effective March 1, 1977. It was the first first-class definitive stamp since the 5c beaver of 1859 that did not depict the reigning monarch. The five different values issued produced 11 distinct stamps collectable as singles. Three formats were used; sheets of 100, coils of 100 and vending booklets of five. | |||||||||||
